The keypad lock has'nt been pressed has it?Other than that have you tried a reset on the scanner or as a last resort try re initializing the scanner (but this will mean a loss of all installed channels). Also lifted the following from another forum re the power save:- When in manual mode listening to one channel it goes automatically into power saving mode and the squelch then takes a second or two to open up meaning you miss the first second or two of the transmission. You can get around this by leaving it in program mode rather than manual mode. Best of luck - Steve Posts: 266 Joined: Sat Nov 24, 2012 5:39 pm Location: N.E. Sometimes the keypads can become a issue & the power save feature is a way of optimising battery life when listening. The Key pads are known to stop working in the longer term & need a refurbish with that silver paint stuff you use to repair car heated windows, but it does not sound like this is what is happening, so the pad would possibly benefit from a careful clean with a damp cotton bud. The other option is to spend some time playing so you get use to using the keys to input the text, as it does require a different technique to other uses of the pad.

You need to put the scanner into “manual” mode and go to each locked out channel. Press the “L/out” button on each of these channels to unlock them. Nornmally this is done to bypass certain channels when scanning so that you can concentrate on others. Go to page 29 and 30 of the manual To clear all locked out frequencies in a search bank: 1: press SEARCH 2: Select the search bank that you want to clear all locked out frequencies 3: Fress FUNC and then L/OUT (Lock List Appears) 4:Press FUNC then 6.. To clear entire list press 1 Happy days, lonely hearts! I'm having a problem myself with my GRE PSR-295.

I think it may need to be re-set (I don't know how you revert everything to factory/default settings and clear the memory) as most of the channels scanned, some of them I can barely hear. I can only assume that the receiving frequency that I try to lock onto is off-set by the transmitting frequency of ham stations that would need some alignment on the receiving end. I also am unsure if it could be an aerial problem and what might be done to replace it. Its a shame about this problem, as I do monitor as an SWL for special purposes (e.g. For filming motor races working on a PMR446 net, special event recording, etc.) The only channel I've been able to fully-lock onto is the MSA (Motor Sports Association's) dedicated channel at race tracks.

For some reason that frequency just about works, but at the same time, most of the comms are within a mile line-of-sight. The rest of the time, I can only just hear other frequencies, even coming from my PMR446 walkie-talkies, once again because it seems to not match exactly the transmitting frequency it says on the dial (even taking it in steps doesn't seem to work - would be nice to have a fine-tune mechanism to get the exact lock-on whatever I'm monitoring at the time.
