Sorry to bump the thread. But it seems like the germans over at motor-talk.de are a lot more obsessed with MMI Firmware updates than people here so with my less than excellent German I seem to be able to gather the following: MMI updates are seemingly only issued by Audi if there's something wrong with the version you have. (Which is ridiculous). You can however download never versions from various shady sources on the internet and install it effortlessly, but this seemingly voids some kind of warranty. Ive sent an email to my dealer as well as a technical engineering team at Audi here in Norway, so hopefully Ill get a sensible reply from them. Interestingly, in the Norwegian version of the accessory guide for the A3 it details that you can get a navigation maps package with updates maps and that this will include software updates to the MMI if available.
